Please help! I need a new video card

I bought the GeForce FX 5200 today, not knowing it was barely a step above my GeForce 3 Ti200. I'm going to take that shit back tonight (I'm so sick of nVidia's bullshit). It looks like the only card I can get for a decent price (read: less horrible than the horribly high prices for Radeons and higher end GeForces) is a GeForce FX 5600. Does this sound right? Should I get this one? I would like to know ASAP as I'd like to get it tonight. I know you'll have something to say about this for sure, MFalcon!

Then you can suffer when Half Life 2 comes out. Not my problem, I'll have enough money saved up by then to get my Radeon ;p

How am I going to suffer by not buying a Radeon? I feel blessed not owning an ATI card. Besides, "Radeon" is not an answer to my question. There's probably 30 Radeon cards that would be worse than what I have right now.

you think valve will optimize by Radeon when Nvida sells more.

I dunno man, I'd say the GF4 Ti cards would be the best deal, and more than enough to handle the new games for another year. That's why I'm not planning on upgrading for quite a while.

I read the GeForce FX 5600 Ultra is on par with the GeForce4 ti's but has the newest tech.

If you're looking to play Half-Life 2, I wouldnt hold back. sure its expensive, but im sure it will be worth it if you're willing to shell out the cash. If I were you I'd get whatever that new Radeon is. I think it's 9800-256? Something like that? Blows the pants off the new GeForce. If you're looking for something a little less (maybe 200 less, the new Radeon is some 500 bucks) then get the Radeon 9700-128 for about 300. I definetly would not go with an nVidia. I dont trust them. I had a Geforce 3 and the drivers were always messed up.

In any case, if you want the full experience of the new Half-Life, then definetly get the new Radeon 9800.

Whereas I've never had problems with nVidia. Ever.

Odd.

What does the new Half Life offer that I can't get with a GeForce FX 5600?

I'm not sure if they've posted the required specs yet, but I'm sure that its going to demand top of the line hardware. If you're looking to upgrade and are willing to spend some money, then you might as well go with the Radeon 9700 or 9800. My cousin has a Radeon 9700-128 and he says its totally worth the $299.
