Digital Camaera (trying to buy one)

Postby DarkViruz on Tue Aug 09, 2005 7:03 pm

I need soem idea for what I should buy. I'm looking for something up to 300$ canadian (250ish US). But I'd prefer to spend less (im going to be buying it on ebay too). But regardless if you don't surf ebay, can you guys give me a heads up on some good cams out there? I was looking at the company nikon, seem pretty decent.

Is 3.2MP way too little these days? or do some cameras still provide better then cheap 4.0 or 5.0's?

etc etc?

Personally, I'd go for 4MP at least. I prefer Canon, as they usually provide the most vibrant and rich pictures. If you'd like to see a page that gives about the deepest reviews anywhere, check out http://dpreview.com.

The Canon A520 sounds good. I have a similar camera and it takes great pictures. You can buy it for $250 or less. Review is at http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/C ... n_a520.asp

I was looking at that canon and the a95 for a while on ebay, but everytime a bid came near close the price shot up so damn high.

I ended up getting a nikon 5600. Supposedly the big issue is that people get blurry photographs if they move it around a lot. A lot of people either love it or hate it. and I grabbed one for 200 CDN. So I hope it works out. dpreviews.com is a pretty good site, not too many reviews on this camera, hopefully my gamble pays off.

Hell, I don't know, I just know I saw it for like $198. I didn't check shipping or Canadian cost. Do you think I'm your secretary? Get your own coffee.

Alright well keeping in mind I have near no experience with still photography, but here are my first shots I've taken with the Nikon 5600 that arrived. I was trying to whore the macro shots as they seem to be the coolest things these days. But anything cool seemed to move away from me (what else is new) so I got blur sometimes....but some shots are not too bad I thought. (most are blurry and bad...but the pear turned out good!)

Just keep practicing. You'll figure out the best angles and lighting and focal points and framing to make sweet photos. Keep an eye out for interesting things.

Looks like you have a lot of problems with focus. You need to pay a lot more attention to your focal point, because in many of those macro pictures the foreground is blurry and something way off in the background is in focus. Also, when taking macro pictures you need to be as still as possible unless it's very bright at the time.

Yea I don't understand what looks like perfect focus for me on the lcd screen ends up not being so...perhaps due to smallish size, ill give it another whirl today. Actually I just came back from being outside 5 minutes got some decent shots this time, will post in a few.

Also get used to some photo editting software for some post-processing. In this case something as simple as cropping could make a couple of those fly pics look pretty cool. You could also fix the "green eye" on your cat. :)
