Apparently not... I thought it was weird too. I guess oil doesn't conduct electricity. I read a thread in the forum that claimed water only conducts electricity because of the minerals in it.

That can't be true either, surely distilled water conducts. As far as I remember being taught isn't H2O just a liquid metal inregards to conductivity?

It's true that water does not conduct electricity very well. It's the salt and other minerals that drastically increase its conductivity.

You still rely on information gained in school? Pretty much every "fact" you learn in school is a half truth at best.
