Gorillaz live in 3D

This is pretty crazy... and a little scary. The Gorillaz performed "live" at the MTV Europe awards. They were animated in 3D and projected onto the stage. It looks like they are really up there.

That's awesome. I'd love to see the "making of". I realize it's based on an old old visual illusion, but I'm curious about how the projection onto "transparent foil" works.
