Anyone know what it means when a program suddenly stops booting up? I've been playing Vice City for about a week now, and today it suddenly won't boot up. Any ideas?

Windows xp 1 day rollback...

If something ever stops woring for me, it means i downloaded and installed something screwy, so i do a system restore one day back to when it was working and all is well.

That's an option I suppose, but I'd rather know what's causing it.

How do you expect to learn the reason? Is there a log file for the program? I doubt it. You can check your system's event log to see if there is an error.

It could be that one of the program's file is corrupt. You can try reinstalling it, and that might fix it.

I don't know, that is why I am asking. I figured someone might have experience with this type of problem.

I already reinstalled, but the problem remains. Maybe I'll be doing a rollback.

Check the NT Event log. It's in control panel -> administrator tools -> event viewer. You might be able to see an error in the Application log...

Yea about the only way to figure out what it was is to look into the Event Viewer OR check if there is a log file for the game.

Similar experience with C&C: Generals at a LAN party and the game didn't produce any log file nor did it write to the Event Viewer, which is odd.

Could it be an issue with Daemon Tools?

I figured it out. The problem was caused when I enabled my onboard sound. Apparently any hardware settings need to be changed within the game before you actually make the change. The fix was as easy as deleting a config file.

It was all in the readme.

Nice avatar! I love that picture. Hard to make out the detail as an avatar though.

Yah this one cracks me up. I laughed my ass off when I first saw it. The expression on that face alone was funny enough, but with the wheelin' Subaru in chase...hahhaaha!
