Knights of the Old Republic is out for XBox next week, which will be the first true Star Wars RPG (it even uses the Star Wars D20 rules!!! So it's actually like a D&D/Star Wars hybrid in a way). It's made by the kings themselves, Bioware! It will be out in Fall for PC (but I'm getting the XBox version next week).

Also coming out this fall, and in some ways is even more exciting, is Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy! They say there will be double the amount of saber moves, you can design how your character looks, you can have single, double or dual lightsabers, there are vehicles (!!) and rideables like tauntauns, and there will be more game modes. There will also be objective based team modes (which is exactly what everyone was whining for in JKO... they even have Hoth in this game).

Excerpt: "Expect the standard deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag options. There will also be objective-based multiplayer missions similar to Counter-Strike, complete with character specializations such as demolitions expert, infantry trooper and, of course, Jedi. There are even Jedi variations. For example, you may opt to be an all-out offensive Jedi with double sabers, or you might instead choose to be a Jedi that supports the troops and specialize in healing force powers."
